This post will serve as an extended review of those already listed in the custom closet directory.

It will be added to and updated regularly. While most will provide more than just closets, all companies here will offer some type or types of closet organizer systems or custom closets.

Any closet that changing from the basic closet design that is standard and is modified to accommodate the owner could be considered a custom closet. They range from the simple addition of shelves to the elaborate walk-in closets customized with luxurious styled dressers, doors, mirrors, racks, and bins.

Be creative and have it your way by customizing the cookie-cutter box and pole into a fully functional closet that reflects your style and needs.

Size is not essential as we all have many closets in our homes. Often the added storage space we seek was sitting there all the time waiting for us to give it life and use the area efficiently.

It is not our fault; little thought or creativity went into designing standard closets. Even today, with all of our modern advancements and improvements, a box and pole mentality still rules the day among developers as it is cheaper and requires little time.

So, If you want to have a closet that works for you and can keep all your things nice and tidy and readily available when you need them, you are going to have to do it yourself or check out one of the many companies who specialize in these hidden spaces we call closets.

Easy closets are a natural choice as my first website as they are the industry’s first online closet company.

They make their products out of their facility in Holland, Michigan, and are part of the Show Company, which has been in home custom storage and organization products for over 30 years.

Here is a quick list of the material colors they offer: white, ivory, clay, lava, desert, driftwood, chateau, sierra, chestnut, and espresso. They have a sample design tool that you can use some redesigned layouts then edit them to your needs.

You will be given a choice of drawer style, hardware color, and adjustable shoe organizer. The tool, as with all new things, takes a minute or two to get the hang of it, but you can’t mess it up, and the device has plenty of help to get you on your way.

Founded in 1978, they are the nations leading retailer of storage and organization products. They offer custom closets for every style and budget featuring Elfa, Avera, and Laren brands.

Each of these has its category within the site with a variety of choices to suit different preferences and needs. You can choose a closet from their catalogs or design your closet.

They feature:

I went with Elfa to see how their design tool worked and to see what all they offered and was impressed at how easy and quick I was able to narrow down to a design that appealed to me.

It’s a lovely design tool which allows you to pick your current closet design from their templates, add your specific dimensions in the boxes, choose the type of walls your closet is made of and the color of your current partitions. Finally, you select the type of shelves you want. It is that simple.

The Elfa system offers wood veneer shelves in white birch, white walnut, platinum & birch, and platinum & walnut decor.

They also have epoxy-bonded steel ventilated shelves with solid oak accents or without. These shelves look nice with the wood accents, and they come in birch/fascia, walnut/fascia, and white/fascia.

They can also accommodate closets less than 104″ wide and 40″ deep so small cabinets, no problem. I love it when companies remember us, little people. And this is only one small slice of their massive website and a small part of one of the brands they offer.

California closets boast 120 showrooms and over 700 designers. Founded in 1978 by an 18-year-old college student who turned his idea of maximizing space in his dorm room closet into a successful small business in Southern California. That is what I call the Magic of Thinking Big.

Now an international business, California Closets, has received numerous awards for its designs and innovation. They offer premium and luxury space-management and are a subsidiary of First Service Brands, one of America’s largest producers of essential property services to residential and commercial customers.

California Closets website includes broad categories featuring the bedroom, garage, laundry room, workspace as well as others. Next, they have subcategories under each of those. Their galleries showcase some amazing closets, offer limited lifetime guarantees, and provide a white-glove installation service that focuses on your schedule and treats your home in a professional, respectful way.

They may have some fantastic luxury closets larger than bedrooms I have lived in, but don’t let that push you away because they will customize cabinets to any space and any budget. Score another one for the little people.

In no way did I attempt to give complete detailed information for any of these three sites but only a few things about each of them from what I observed and took away from my visits. You can use this information or go check one or all of them out for yourself. I will continue to review other websites offering custom closets. Still, today we touched on some significant closet designers in America who have enjoyed success and have a lot to offer those in search of a custom closet for their home.
