Is The Keto Diet Safe?
For me, the question of is the Keto diet safe or not is a no-brainer.
Not to use the Keto diet for someone like me with high blood sugar is like playing the game frogger.
If we ignore the dangers and continue to flirt with oncoming traffic, then we get what the poor frog gets when he leaps into the moving vehicle.
Why This Diet is So Important
If we have blurred vision, numbness in our extremities and are cramping up due to our diet; we have to make changes.
To understand what the real issue is, we must first realize that we have all been programmed and conditioned to add pills, do this, exercise that, and buy a bunch of the other, or we cannot get well.
Even if you currently do not have high blood sugar, yet are like most people in America and continue to eat a steady diet of foods with sugar, chances are at some point your blood sugar will become a problem.
The Keto diet is not some fad that just came along in recent days. Keto has been the historical diet of man throughout history.
The diets we all think to be regular with fast food and processed foods topped off with tons of sugar are the actual fad diets that cannot be sustained and expected to keep us healthy.
So, yes, Keto is not only safe but healthy for humans to eat.
What is Keto?
First, let me assure you that while there are many attempts to profit and promote it as such, Keto is not a pill, a powder, or a shake. So, what is it?
(Eggs are right for you and a part of a Keto diet)
YES, the Keto diet is safe and more than safe; it is the diet your body needs.
The Results of Not Eating Keto
The results of ignoring carbs and sugar and not eating healthy are quite evident today in America as the spike in diabetes is off the charts and continues to climb higher and higher.
Our pancreas produces insulin, and when it no longer does, you have type 1 diabetes and must take insulin, or you will die.
Are those who previously had normal blood sugar levels and normal hemoglobin A1C levels, but for reasons of genetics, or more likely one’s diet, now these have shot up and become dangerously high.
This condition can lead to loss of vision, loss of limbs, kidney failure, and type move us into type 1 diabetes if our pancreas quits producing insulin.
In addition to those beautiful things, having diabetes makes us more susceptible to things like strokes and heart attacks, so it is a severe condition.
How Do Doctors Know Someone Has Diabetes?
The way that doctors can determine what your condition is is through the hemoglobin A1c test, which gives them a three month average of how your blood sugar has been doing daily.
Not exact, but close enough.
- If you are at 5.7, you should never drink another calorie and stop now!
- You are not at a level of just monitoring your sugar levels; you need to take action yesterday because once your levels skyrocket, you do permanent damage to your body.
Exercise is Not The Cure
No amount of activity is going to take away diabetes because a lack of exercise is not what caused it.
Yes, exercise is essential for our overall health in our bodies and our brains. But thinking that an extra twenty minutes on the treadmill will take away your diabetic condition is futile.
While it may improve to gain muscle and burn some fat, the most dangerous and difficult fat to remove, is in your belly, and that will probably still be there even after exercising regularly.
That said, it is still very important that you exercise every day as much as possible. Even if all you can do is take a walk it will still be very beneficial to you and your health by improving circulation if nothing else. We all get comfortable and sit far too long without getting up and moving. So at least, take a walk.
It wasn’t until I recently decided to deal with this issue in my own life that I became aware of the fact that in the last 50 years or so, the amount of sugar and carbs and the way we eat in this country has drastically changed.
We can quickly simplify Keto diets if we first quit worrying about adding something and simply remove some things from our lives and our kitchens.
What You Can do Today
Step #1 – Go into your kitchen and cupboard and get rid of everything that has sugar:
Step #2 – Remove all of the grains and wheat
Step #3- Get rid of the vegetable oils
The fact is, there are not any vegetables in these oils, as is suggested in the names. These oils come from beans and seeds.
